Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
The Malachite Butterfly (Siproeta stelenes), a member of the family Nymphalidae, is a neotropical brush-footed butterfly with large wings. It is named for the mineral malachite. The wings are black with bright emerald green on the upperside, and light brown with olive-green on the underside. The wingspread is about 4 inches. This butterfly is commonly found in Central America and in northern South America, and also in Cuba, south Florida, south Arizona, and south Texas. Malachite butterflies are considered to be strong fliers. Their preferred habitat is tropical woodlands, overgrown orchards and shrubby areas.
This Malachite perched on a wet leaf was photographed in Jamaica on 2-12-2012. I used a Nikon D7000 camera body and a Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VR2 lens coupled to a Nikon TC 1.7x Teleconverter to capture this image. Settings: 1/200 sec, f/4.8, ISO 1000.
I am honored that my photograph was featured in the Fine Art America groups:
